Sapphire Interactive is an indie gamedesign project founded in 2005, originally consisting of NightZel, Maarkky (now a keyboard player for the band The Sixteens) and Bobby (currently a student of architecture and design). NightZel is the only official member at the moment and is solely responsible for its creative direction. Originally conceived as a MOD development team, Sapphire Interactive was reoriented in 2006, without having released any material.

Their first project, a remake of the 80s cult side scrolling shoot-em up arcade game R-Type was quickly abandoned and the team disbanded, with each member pursuing his own projects. After a short stint with a short-lived, but more experienced gamedesign team (which had NightZel working with his old friend, graphics designer VegetaSJJ8), as well as a period of inactivity, NightZel brought back the Sapphire Interactive name and has been using it ever since. The first game to go into active development was BloodNight, a fighting game based on one of several ideas by the previous team.

In december 2009 BloodNight was finally released, after a 32 months development period.

He is now extremely busy with various projects and pursues a career in publicity. Sapphire Interactive thanks him for everything he's done and wishes him best of luck, and maybe someday we will collaborate again.
